EA Didn’t Change Anything. They Just Postponed Their Money Grab Scheme.

Before we start talking about EA I just want to ask the people who decided not to buy Battlefront 2 to stay by that decision. We did a great thing, Reddit forced EA to stand down but this is not over, they have one more trick up their sleeve.

A small recap for people who don’t know how this all mess started in the first place. A Reddit user calculated that we need 40 hours of gameplay to unlock a single hero in Battlefront 2, then another website calculated that to unlock everything you will need over 4500 hours of gameplay or $2100 to unlock everything in the game. EA then tried to justify the 40 hour gameplay with “we wanted to give you a sense of accomplishment”, ended up with the most downvoted comment in the history of Reddit, DICE devs held an AMA and only answered irrelevant questions aaaaaaand here we are… A few days later we are presented with this!

Now this message is probably meant for someone who is either very gullible or someone who doesn’t know that we are dealing with the worst company of the year award winner. Two times in a row… What EA is trying to do here is probably the most disgusting thing they pulled off in a while. They are trying to convince us that they are actually listening to the feedback. Are you? Then please let us know which beta players said: “Hey guys, you should add lootboxes and an ability to unlock characters for money while making them almost impossible to unlock for casual players.” Please point us in their direction and we will be off your back for good.

These people aren’t listening to anyone except their shareholders. This is a company that wants profit and they will get it if we let them. Removing in-game purchases is one thing, but removing them while we all by the game and then bringing it back is something else. If you listened we were loud and clear on this one – WE ALREADY PAID YOU FOR THE GAME, WE DON’T WANT TO PAY FOR IN-GAME ITEMS! If you are having problems reading that please email me for a detailed explanation.

What really happened here is this. They probably had a board meeting where they exchanged ideas on how to look good to the public but also save the profits and this is the solution. F*ck the community over by pretending that we are listening and when everything settles down just get back to the original plan.

I will say this one last time. This is EA people. What we forced them to do is fantastic but let’s not let them win! Don’t buy the game, let them learn a lesson and always remember, this isn’t just EA. This is a message for every game publisher. What EA experienced in the past few days will make others reconsider their moves regarding in-game purchases. We won the first battle but the war is still not over!

Youre assuming that they will add it back as is in the near future. Chances are it will be changed. For better or worse, who knows. Until then, you should give the benefit of doubt. Yes EA is known for this type of stuff, but Disney is involved now. This is a very valuable franchise to them, if the changes being made do not alleviate the problem, then there’s a very good chance that EA may lose the rights to make Star Wars games. This franchise will make money even without EA. Slow down a bit and allow the process to happen. We made our voices heard. Let’s see if they actually listened.

@Dude – You don’t give EA the benefit of the doubt, they lost that right a long time ago, move on

Yeah, I’m not buying the game and we’ll see…that’s as far as EA will get from me when it comes to the “benefit of the doubt”. I wouldn’t trust a lying scumbag to “really change this time” because he tells me to…in fact, I’ll suspect he’s still a lying scumbag until there is solid evidence otherwise. I think you’re just naive to be honest…either way, the whole game is borked because it was built around that progression model

I like the article, but you are assuming that they WILL absolutely 100% bring it back… You don’t really know their long term intention, but we do know their track record.

Oh we know their long term intention, that was made clear with the initial monetization scheme. Their track record only corroborates this notion. And they have pretty much said they’ll bring it back, modified I’m sure, but still pay 2 win on some level.

Judging by all the Youtube videos I’ve seen it’s a clusterfuck of a game anyway. It’s not even worth pirating, let alone buying.

You don’t HAVE to buy these things. Play the game like a casual player, like, obviously, most people will do, so this pay to win won’t matter anyway. It’s the most controversial topic right now for a reason. No one wants it, so no one will use it. If people don’t want it, but they end up using it, they’re hypocrites and that’s their loss of personal character over a game. Their problem, not mine. Your problem is you are literally writing about and planting the seed of what most everyone is deeming a bad idea for the game, into everyone’s heads. Positive or negative promotion is still promotion. You are only attracting people that agree with you. It’s not a new topic, and no one that doesn’t know about the game is reading this. If you don’t want it or want to play it, dont. But don’t sway people with two dimensional, already debunked lies. That’s your personal character loss.

Lol, wow, you’re a fool dude. Have fun getting owned by Darth vader, with 10xs more health and regeneration, because some kid paid $500 for it. If only 5% of people pay money and trick their characters out, it will be enough to ruin every other game. It’s supposed to be a competitive multiplayer game dude, which you pay $60 for, not a game where you can increase the autoaim with star cards (which is truly a feature)…how lame. And even lamer for you to be placating EA for this.

I personally don’t get the fuss don’t buy it. The real deal is 15k for vader and Luke 10k for leah Chewbacca and Palpatine and 5 k for versio. If got 15 hours with minimal multiplayer and I’ve gotten versio and Palpatine unlocked and I need 100 credits to get princess organa. Leaving only Luke Chewbacca and vader.

Unlock them with credits by god and stop bitching. I literally played one assault match and finished 3rd on my team and most everyone was playing with higher hero levels and were level 20 minimum and I was leave 3 with a level 7 hero.

Let the rich dump in their money and just play the damn game. More play and less bitching equals most of heroes unlocked comside ring you’ve beaten the story and the battle scenarios.

EA has been the bane of games since I can remember. They ruined Ultima IX, no reason to stop there.
